January – Annual Music for Galway’s Mid-Winter Festival : 20th – 22nd January 2017

Music for Galway’s 2017 Annual Midwinter Festival - ‘Prodigy’ - runs from Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd January.  This year’s festival takes child prodigies as its inspiration and every work in the weekend programme will have been written before the composer reached the age of eighteen. The ConTempo and Esposito quartets will be joined by Ailish Tynan, Soprano and Christian Chamorel, piano in performing an amazing range of music from down through the ages including compositions from Schubert, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Mahler and others. The programme also includes the Irish début of the astounding 11 year old multi-instrumentalist Alma Deutscher.


May - Annual Galway Early Music Festival : 19th – 20th May 2017

The 2017 Annual Galway Early Music Festival runs from 19th – 20th May. The festival’s aim is to showcase historically informed performance of medieval, renaissance and baroque music in Galway City and County. Founded in 1996 the festival features concerts by top international performers, workshops, schools events and music and theatre in the Galway City Museum and in the street. The festival has a unique, relaxed and friendly atmosphere and highlights the medieval town of Galway and the artistic and cultural richness of the area.


July – Annual Galway International Arts Festival: 17th – 30th July 2017

The 2017 Annual Galway International Arts Festival runs from 17th – 30th July and presents 14 summer days of Artists, Musicians, Actors, Writers and Performers in Galway including Free Family events, Spectacular shows, Theatre, Music, Arts, Performance, Dance, Street Theatre and much more.


October – Annual Galway Jazz Festival : 5th – 8th October 2017

Established in 2005, the Annual Galway Jazz Festival connects people in Galway with jazz and improvised music.  The festival’s strong, inclusive and adventurous programmes attract a wide audience. The festival’s musical boundaries span from JS Bach to Ireland’s leading HIP HOP ensembles, the UK’s premier vocalists, top European recording artists and the very best from the eclectic contemporary Irish jazz scene. Jazz is a broad church and Galway Jazz Festival seeks to fill all the pews!
